The LinHart Fellowship program is a one-year full time job for new graduates of the highest calibre with a strong interest in people/organization/psychology/HR and business, with potential to convert to a permanent job. The one-year enables the Fellow and Firm to mutually discover whether the Fellow has the calling to be a Linhart counselor/leader or is better served to apply the learning from the fellowship in a different path (e.g., in a large company, or as an entrepreneur). The experience will strength the fellow’s personal leadership, and elevate his (her) trajectory in any chosen field. During the fellowship, a market-competitive salary commensurate with the fellow’s education and/or experience will be paid.
With this purpose in mind, a Fellow who is likely to have a good fit if (s)he exhibits 6 essential qualities:
- An ambidexterity in working with both People and Business
- Intellectual Curiosity & Strength to uncover underlying truth, going the extra miles in evidentiary rigour.
- Disciplined Problem Solver, robust from data acquisition through pattern verification.
- Keen and diligent Learner, committed to develop skills, knowledge and self-awareness.
- Systematic Self-starter, comfortable with progressing in ambiguity and absence of supervision.
- Consistent behaviour to advance LinHart’s Mission, especially its Values and Principles
With the above qualities, a fellow most likely already have the intellect comparable to top graduates in a world leading university, high emotional intelligence, evidence of leadership impact in earlier pursuits and a strong drive to achieve a higher purpose beyond self-interest and material gains.
The exact mix of projects, programs, and clients the fellow works on depends on the firm’s strategic priorities and projects in the relevant year, the interests and profile of the fellow, and receptivity of client and other LinHart stakeholders. However, LinHart expects Fellows to perform tasks assigned and make additional Elective Leadership Contributions (ELC)
Task Performance
- Provide project management support end-to-end to senior Counselor(s).
- Build own mental models across relevant theories, principles, and experiences (LinHart’s or others’). Populate same with hard and soft data acquired and spot the gaps for further actions. Assess, Internalize, deepen, and bring together the insights into coherent landings and conclusions.
- Perform timely problem solving and deliver robust end-products (including reports, graphics, videos etc).
- Contribute insights, inferences to team discussions pushing for clarity and robust convergent landings.
- Support client meeting preparation, conduct and debrief. Fellows aren’t expected to counsel anyone initially, though exception may be made for fellows with readiness.
- Manage certain aspects of operations, communications, and extension of the LIFE program community including in China
- Take initiative to catalyse change in client situation, promote the good cause and learn to facilitate dialogue to uncover the truths, building alignment and breaking logjams.
- Capable of performing above tasks at a high level intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually for extended periods of time.
Elective Leadership Contributions
By the end of the first quarter, Fellows are given an opportunity to nominate 1 to 3 leadership initiatives where contribution will further deepen self-direction and learning. Examples of ELCs include:
- Identify gaps in repertoire of LinHart Assessment tools and recommend external or development of internal tool to fill gaps
- Enhancement of Assessment Algorithms or benchmarks
- Advance ‘LIFE’ community vibrancy with specific design (e.g., LIFE Retreat 2.0)
- Take leadership of an essential facet of external communication (e.g., LinHart Blogs)
- Extension or variation of Life Programs (e.g., design of Life programs for senior 50-something displaced by restructuring)
- Identify and recruit the next fellow or program faculty
- Deepen followership to the cause among targeted client people
- Codify specific knowledge/experiences with client ready document or video
Fellows may apply by the start of the last quarter to extend the fellowship for an extra year typically to deepen or broaden exposure. LinHart will explore mutual fit, evaluate performance on tasks and Elected Leadership Contributions and decide on the extension.
Fellows will relate to their assigned LinHart Principal on work activities and Business Manager for Firm Policy and Administration. Fellows will be mentored by another LinHart senior leader of appropriate fit.
