Retired from the position of Chairman of State Bank Group (India), Mr. Bhatt serves on the boards of Standard Chartered Bank, Tata Consultancy Services, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd, India and Hindustan Unilever Ltd.
Mr Bhatt is a career banker with over 30 years banking experience and retired as Chairman of the State Bank Group in 2011. State Bank Group includes State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest commercial bank, five associate banks (the State Banks of Bikaner and Jaipur, Hyderabad, Mysore, Patiala and Travancore), the country’s largest private life insurer, a leading investment bank and other subsidiaries spanning diverse
activities from general insurance to custodial services.
During his Chairmanship, with the help of a transformation program that covered 130,000 employees in 100 days, Mr. Bhatt revitalized SBI’s culture and market position, making SBI the undisputed market leader in India. SBI also steadily improved its global ranking in the list of Fortune 500 companies.
